Mid Island Co-op - Shifting into Solar Energy
Mid Island Co-op is shifting into solar energy with our Salt Spring Island Gas Bar! This recent addition marks a significant milestone in our journey towards sustainability and the integration of renewable energy solutions into our operations.
“Mid Island Co-op has long been leaders in sustainability and energy conservation. We’re very excited to continue our working relationship with Mid Island by showcasing this exciting product on their Salt Spring store. We believe BIPV is the future of solar. Every new home and building constructed should include a means of power generation and storage. We are proud to offer that solution in Canada." says Colyn Strong, Founder and President of Shift.

This project was designed, installed and commissioned by Shift Energy Group for our Mid Island Co-op gas bar on Salt Spring Island. Located at 135 Rainbow Road, the gas bar received a recent upgrade in the form of 232 state-of-the-art solar panels on the roof of the convenience store. The system was installed by Shift Energy Group, a Canadian company with offices in BC, Alberta, Ontario, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia. With a commitment to sustainable energy solutions and work for organizations across Vancouver Island, we knew Shift would be the perfect partner for this project.
While the sleek panels may be hardly noticeable to passersby, the system is working hard to produce an incredible 35,395 kWh of energy annually. Creating our own energy allows us to lower our operating costs and pass those savings onto our valued Mid Island Co-op Members while decreasing our environmental impact. A win-win for everyone!
